Major update, which usually goes wrong (1809 update ring any bells? Still unfixed at time of posting). We want Windows to allow us to work uninterrupted, without being nagged at least a month for minor updates and every six months for their Microsoft need to stop adding more bloat (Candy Crush anybody?) with each release of Windows. Why should I allocate my resources to fix what is Microsoft's This isn't going to happen, not even with one of my disposable numbers. This will probably be my last post about this, as Microsoft are demanding a phone number from me to verify my account. This didn't stop my issue with Winamp, in fact it remained the same. So I am more than happy to do as much testingĪnd tweaking to get this fixed - if not for myself, then for other users too. I have Windows 17763.1 on a separate drive which does not conflict with my current installation. In the meantime, I am going to stay with Windows 1709 for now and work with people in this thread to fix my problem.
But this seems like an expensive experiment that may fix my problem. I am currently debating on replacing my current sound card (Creative X-Fi Titanium PCI-E SB0880) with a Creative Sound BlasterX AE-5. However my preference is with Winamp, but I could adapt to AIMP if I had to make a switch. I can play exactly the same audio file with AIMP just fine and with no problems. Sometimes, but Winamp is replacing the lost audio with jitters. It's weird, it's like the audio is slowing down I also noticed demands on the CPU sometimes made the jittering worse. I did notice that if no audio was playing for a about 5 minutes, Winamp would seem play audio fine. My motherboard does currently have the latest BIOS installed at time of posting. I also tried Compatibility Mode with Winamp and this also made no difference. I have tried as you have suggested by using Compatibility Mode, but this made no difference. Thanks for taking the to reply to my thread, Devlin.
These same audio files work perfectly with Windows 10 1709.Īlso to add that I tested Windows 10 build 17763.1 and the issue is still present. The issue is that the sound seems to be slowing down frequently and there are lots The problem does not go away, despite changing many settings as suggested online. I have also been experimenting with various third-party drivers, such as from PAX and Daniel_K and these don't help either.Īfter some more testing, it actually seems to be primarily Winamp causing this problem. My Asus ROG STRIX H270F Gaming motherboard has the latest BIOS.
I have spent a long time searching and trying solutions and I am becoming more and more frustrated and angry at this. I have tried setting the sample rate to every single setting, but nothing helps. My onboard sound works fine, except that is very poor quality with lack of controls. I have tried moving the card about in different slots and removing devices, but nothing makes a difference. Weirdly, YouTube don't seem to produce this noise. I also find some games give the same problem. When playing audio through Winamp, I get a very fine jittering/crackling noise which does not go away. In my testing of 1803, I have discovered that my Creative X-Fi Titanium PCI-E SB0880 sound card no longer works properly.
I have been intending to update to 1803 for sometimes, but I prefer to do clean install purely out of habit.
